Meet the trailblazers behind a groundbreaking movement in Canadian medical education, Dr OmiSoore Dryden, Dr Barbara Hamilton and Dr Onye Nnorom.
For the first time in history, Canadian medical students will receive comprehensive education on anti-Black racism and Black health. This initiative, spearheaded by The Black Health Education Collaborative, aims to foster empathy, understanding, and equity in healthcare.
With a focus on dismantling biases and fostering cultural competence, this curriculum shift acknowledges the systemic challenges faced by Black patients within the healthcare system. By centering Black voices and experiences, medical students are equipped to provide more compassionate and equitable care.
We are celebrating this milestone with the Black Health Education. Here’s to the incredible work of the Black Health Education team. Their dedication to education, dialogue, and advocacy is shaping a future where every patient feels truly valued and heard.
Let’s celebrate their impact and join hands in continuing the journey towards health equity for all.
